No Pens Day 2024!

No Pens Day 2024 arrived at Coedcae School on 27th November! The day is dedicated to team work and learning through various different activities that, most importantly, have little to nothing to do with writing! Pupils love participating in the annual event and 2024's day was no different!
Our brilliant Year 11 Hospitality class fully immersed themselves in No Pens Day! Our amazing school chefs and kitchen staff showed pupils the industrial machines and explained the busyness of a professional kitchen and the enormous scale of ingredients needed to make lunch for nearly 1,000 pupils every day! The Year 11 pupils even helped them to make some of the breaktime snacks! But it wasn't just our KS4 classes who were busy! Year 8 classes were busy playing Snakes and Ladders in Spanish and pupils loved their speaking and listening challenges. Also, there were murder mysteries and code cracking in Maths to find the cunning suspects and, in English, pupils had to solve conundrums and anagrams to find the Christmas items that the Grinch had stolen! Finally, in Science lessons, Year 7 classes had to work in teams to construct bridges out of old newspapers. They were tested at the end of the lessons with weights and the winning teams received their prizes. It really was a great day that allowed pupils to focus on their verbal communication and team work. Roll on 2025!
